Are you tired of searching for a place to stay for the Birkie every year? When the weekend hits – are you bummed because you’re stuck in the city – all the rooms and rentals up north are booked, and the ski conditions are perfect in Cable AGAIN? After Winter, comes Spring, Summer and Fall – road biking, mountain biking, roller skiing, trail running, kayaking & swimming . . . Isn’t it time to make the best decision you can make, time to train where you love to race, time to teach the kids the fun of life sports, time to unleash your sense of independence and explore what you really enjoy – what makes you happy? Isn’t it time for your very own Birkie getaway right here in Cable, WI?

Your family and friends can gather comfortably at Cable Woods. Charming & historic, dating back to 1908, this 3 bedroom home is on the edge of town on a quiet country road with excellent proximity to all your favorite mountain bike and cross country ski trails. The home’s 1500 sq. ft. includes three upstairs bedrooms, 1.5 baths, a spacious kitchen with a breakfast bar, an open dining/living layout, a wood-burning fireplace, an office area and a laundry room. There is a separate guest/sauna house with a full bath, a heated waxing cabin, a single-car garage and plenty of storage in the studio barn /hobby workshop. The 16×16 tiled kitchen makes meal prep a snap for a large group and can accommodate a buffet, too. The dining area blends over to living space, and a lodge-size table would fit here for family-style dining. The wood-burning fireplace and original wood floors add a warm, mellow character to the house.

Cable Woods has 4.9 fenced & gated acres. The land was part of a larger farmstead, so there are tall, old hardwoods & pines, open pasture land and rich soil. “Get back to the land” and plant an organic garden. There’s a root cellar waiting to store all your produce. I think you could even store wine in the cellar! Additionally – there are 16 acres with a 2-car garage for sale across the road from the house. That property includes a “loafing hüs” that could be a sweet cottage store.

Convenient to town – only .6 miles away – you can walk or bike to cafes with home-cooking, stone-fired pizza, micro-brews, coffee & wi-fi. There’s an indy book store, the nationally famous Cable Natural History Museum, Forest Lodge Library (housed in an original log cabin), a full service grocery & hardware store and a health clinic. Just down the road from the house you’ll find Perry Lake Park. You, the kids and the dog will love the short bike ride for swimming and playing retrieve. Locals love this clear, little gem.

Cable is the happening place. The network of world class ski and bike trails matched with established world class events like the Birkie and Fat Tire Festival make the Cable area popular place for silent sports family getaways.

I don’t know what it is . . . but the seasons just feel more special here. It’s not too late to experience your own Cable Woods winter, bundled under a blanket by the warm, crackling fire with snow falling softly outside and the laughter of friends and family around you recalling the day’s adventure on the trails.
