Hold on to your fly rod and minimalist dreams – this 2 bedroom, 756 sq. ft., year round cabin provides the basics without leaving a big foot print in our beautiful northern Wisconsin woods.

Set on 7 lush acres of hardwoods and pines, this enchanting cabin overlooks 340 ft. on the Marengo River near Grand View, WI.  Whether viewing the clear, stone & sand-bottomed river from the deck or while sitting at the waterside fire pit and listening to the riffling current, be prepared to see brook trout rising up for a fly or nibbling at rocks under water for tasty, fat nymphs.

The cabin is comprised of a living area, kitchen & dining space and 2 bedrooms  – one is an open sleeping loft.  There is a cozy wood stove in the living room and electric baseboard heat throughout.  The kitchen is equipped with an electric range, microwave and small fridge.  You must bring water in for your stays – there is no indoor plumbing.

While the cabin is well-insulated, the interior walls are exposed.  Paneling?  Dry wall?  You choose how to finish them and make the place your own.  There is also an 8 x 5 room that can become an indoor bathroom – either a compost toilet or conventional bath, if you decide to put in a well and septic.

The Marengo River is a Category 2 trout stream.  Water levels drop in summer, but in Spring and Fall the river is a fun paddle because of its scenic beauty, gentle rapids and quiet pools.

Getting away from it all means different things to people.  This Marengo River getaway is a golden find for those who want something different and want to experience independence from workaday life.
