PINE SHADOWS – AN HISTORIC 3 BEDROOM HOME ON 20 ACRES IN CABLE, WI
Pine Shadows was built in the 1930’s as an extravagant showcase home for the Rogan family. The Rogans emigrated from Norway to America in 1879. Andrew Rogan moved to the Cable area in 1896 and started a saw mill along Price Lake. His brother Martin joined him in 1898, and they moved the mill to the Big Brook area. In 1919, after the logging boom, the Rogan brothers went into the lumber retail business and opened an outlet where Cable Lumber and Home now stands.
From 2001 – 2002, Pine Shadows was restored by Bill King to its present glory. The Arts & Crafts style home features hand-milled floors of original douglas fir and maple and oak, carefully selected by the Rogan family. The door, window and floor trim is antique walnut. The French doors and interior doors are original as are the built-in cabinets. The windows are mostly original and have been re-glazed.
The setting is astonishing. Surrounded by 20 acres of majestic white pines, tall red pines and delicate Norway pines, the property includes a maintained trail system for walking or snowshoeing, several garden areas, a level yard and a paved drive. Only a mile from the town of Cable, this pristine property feels very private and rural.
