Beautiful Setting on Upper Twin Lake!

Built to last with large, full-scribed pine logs harvested from northern Wisconsin and Michigan’s UP, this impressive, 4 bedroom log lodge features a massive 2-story fireplace; an open great room/kitchen with lake views; a private, lake view dining area; 3 full baths including one with the master bedroom; a lake view sun porch; a 26×25 lower level family room and a professional AV system. A new LP forced air furnace and central air make this home comfortable every season of the year.

The home was built with 18”-24” diameter pine logs that were hand-peeled and dried about 2 years before being planed to achieve their smooth quality. Scandinavian hand-scribed log construction is considered to be the finest form of log construction and incorporates a chinkless system of shrink-to-fit notches. This home was constructed once in Michigan’s UP where the logs were processed and then dismantled and shipped to be reconstructed on this site overlooking Upper Twin Lake.

I particularly like the covered entry to this home. Recessed lighting here feels so welcoming. Inside, the home is finished with 8 types of wood: butternut, pine, red and white oak, ash, hard maple, cedar and birch. The smooth, peeled, hard maple railings add so much character with their knots and knarls. The various natural wood hues blend together with the logs to bring a warm beauty to the interior of this house. Large windows and sky lights bathe the 2,900 sq. ft. home in natural light all day long. Careful site planning allows lake views from three sides of this home! Two islands are visible from the large deck that rings the house. The sunset views here are extraordinary at times!

Additional buildings include a wood shed and the 2-car garage. The garage has a bonus room and deck above that are accessed via an exterior stairway.

The 3.3-acre lot is nicely wooded and includes 200 feet of sand-bottom frontage on Upper Twin Lake of the Tiger Cat Flowage. There is a new, landscaped firepit area that overlooks the dock shoreline. The beautiful, permanent pier is new, too.

The 1,065-acre Tiger Cat Flowage is a chain of 6 lakes and is known for its largemouth bass, walleye and musky fishery. Because of the numerous islands and shallows found across the smaller lakes that make up this chain, Tiger Cat is a quiet lake alternative better suited for fishing and paddling than for jet-skiing or water-skiing.

Hayward, WI, is just 15 minutes to the west. It has the regional hospital, an airport, a variety of city services, shopping, restaurants and cultural activities. This is the home of the American Birkebeiner Cross Country Ski Race, and there is a Birkie Ski Trail head 4.5 miles from this home on Gravel Pit Rd. Also home to the Fat Tire Festival, this area has over 300 miles of mapped and marked mountain bike trails.

Skiing, biking, paddling, fishing . . . and owning a classically constructed, sturdy and timeless log lodge that can accommodate the whole family —– tell me if this one doesn’t sound perfect!
